Congress, in its infinite ignorance,
approved the Civil Liberties Act of 1988, requiring payment of $ 20,000-tax
free-and an apology to each of the estimated 60,000 (ended up to be 85,000)
'survivors' of the evacuation/relocation/internment.
A part of that Act was a section called 'Public Education Fund', which has turned
into nothing less than a brain washing program for the purpose of teaching school
children to believe the WW II political and military leaders were racist, hysterical
and poor leaders. Such words are laden throughout the public education instructions
requirement of those entrusted to teach our children today.
Many historians, and others, regard President Franklin Roosevelt to be among
the top 3 of our greatest of Presidents, yet his memory has been besmirched
and vilified constantly in this 'teaching' program as an "hysterical racist"
of poor leadership qualities, by that 'public education' program, now ongoing.
This brain washing continues under
the auspices of a pamphlet titled "Japanese American Journey: the Story
of a People". Those participating in the writing of this tale are all of
Japanese descent, all 12 of them. This is akin to the foxes guarding the henhouse.
Indeed, the state of California jumped on the "racist" bandwagon by
adopting a piece of legislation (ACR 37) sponsored by Assemblywoman Jackie Speir,
in which all school history and social science textbooks must "accurately
portray wartime incarceration". That is not being done. The Japanese-American
Journey Teachers Guide is far from being "accurate".
To cite a couple of the more flagrant violations of accurate teaching, is the
following:
The constant referral to the evacuation and relocation/internment as being "a
violation of constitutional rights". This is absolutely untrue. The U.S.
Supreme Court is the only body authorized to interpret the constitution, and
that is what they did in the Oct.1944 session; Koromatsu v. U.S.
.3
other wartime cases were similarly adjudged. The west coast evacuation and relocation/internment
WAS legal and constitutional.
Then too, the Japanese American Journey Teachers Guide constantly refers to the Commission on Wartime Relocation and Internment of Civilians (CWRIC) report "Personal Justice Denied", as its source of information. That teachers guide fails to inform the children it purports to teach, that that report has been cited by many knowledgable people as being "highly flawed". You will find a more detailed assessment of that flawed report by reading the rest of this report. Realize the truth of the west coast evacuation/relocation of the Japs.
